Cold Spring Dog Training offers beginner obedience, dog sport foundations work, and AKC Canine Good Citizen classes, as well as private consultation and training. Morgan (that's me) is a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, is a past assistant to Gayle Watkins, graduated from the Michael Ellis Institute (Level 1), and is completing the Denise Fenzi Certification in Training. He is also a certified AKC CGC evaluator, and is fully insured (APDT).
We are pleased to introduce a second trainer to our pack! Michele Moretti is also a former assistant to Gayle Watkins and besides bringing a wide knowledge of R+ techniques, also offers dog sitting services. |
WE HOPE TO OFFER SOCIALLY DISTANT OUTDOOR CLASSES WHEN WE FIND A SUITABLE SPACE

Beginner/Adv Beg ObedienceThis class introduces handlers to the foundations of behavioral modification theory as used in dog training. We will learn the theory and practice of teaching your dog to sit, lie down, stay, come and 'leave-it', as well as introducing mat-work and heeling. Common dog problems in handling and management, feeding and grooming will also be addressed. If you've taken this already there is a discount and emphasis will be on generalizing and proofing.

Intermediate class for the fall does 2 things. It builds on the beginner syllabus and prepares dog/handler teams for the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test. It should be noted that it may take some teams more than one class to pass the test, depending on temperament and previous training.
Taught by Michele Moretti Not given Winter 2019, instead we'll be doing the CGC. |
AKC Canine Good CitizenThis class introduces handlers and dogs to the 10 behaviors needed to pass the AKC Canine Good citizen test. The class culminates in the CGC test and title. All three levels of CGC are available if demand allows.

Intermediate Obedience:
Fenzi Team Style!
This class develops the material in Beginner Obedience and expands it into a foundation for a great pet and for all dog sports. We use the template from the Fenzi Team program which includes elements of engagement, pivot and platform work, heeling and finding heel position, send-aways, low jumping and nose work. Props will be provided as well as instructions on making your own.
